Be thankful you have the Pioneer System. The rear subwoofer is not that expensive to replace. I've also read that the system is actually better than the ML.

I don't know about better, but it definitely appears to be more reliable. I am very happy with the sound.

The Pioneer system is definitely solid. I've blasted mine quite a few times and never had any issues.
The only "pain" I had is when I did double-din conversion / integration with the fact that the steering wheel remote is impossible to integrate
It integrates fine with ML system only.
