Difference in dealer's prices (parts)
Getting my parts together to change out my rear brakes, rotors, etc. My local Lexus dealer quoted $ 11.00 + tax (each) for the caliper bolts. Bought them online from Irontoad, which is Thompson Lexus in PA, for $ 4.80 each. Even with shipping charges, I saved $ 20.00.

Yup, some local dealers know they are competing with online sources will match or come pretty close. When I work up an order, the online shop has flat rate shipping so the deal becomes better the more ordered. That usually means north of $150 so it's like Costco. Can't get out without spending more than a C note.

Reminder to guys (and 1 girl into cars): We buy and pay for so many non-essential, excess and frivolous items and guys, we should pay a good mechanic. Good mechanics are worth their weight in GOLD and we should really cherish those mechanics that are HIGHLY accountable, trustworthy and eschew and embody good values and good citizenship. Not just because I bought an older model car in my 95 Lexus because I did my research and homework but because when something goes wrong in any car, you want it diagnosed correctly and you want the work to be good for life! So if you find a great mechanic, pay him what he wants and don't hesitate and if you need a reminder, use visualization and think back to all the money you spend on non-essential and excess items! (and yes, I am working on this for me too!)
