GPS location keeps changing?? FIXED
I get in the car...Start the car...remove the sunscreen from windshield...Bluetooth connects to Iphone...Accept for Nav screen. I am in the Ocean not 7 miles away at my Home location. Set it at work or home to known location. Just started happening this last week. May last for a couple of days or a couple of hours. I have had the sunscreen for over a month and have not reset or changed nothing in last 30 days. Any ideas???
2005 ls430 CL model 58k miles...Most up to date DVD disk as of Feb 2014 Gen 4
Thanks ahead of time for help.
Fixed...After setting the location of a known correct spot it give an option to swivel. Did not understand the meaning of this option. I do now...it gives you the chance to put the pointer in the same direction as the little pointer up in the left hand corner. All is good Thanks

When you say sunscreen, are you talking about the aluminum foil looking, roll-up, sometimes fold-up sun blocker thingys? When you said "I am in the Ocean not 7 miles away at my Home location." ---what does that mean? Is the system showing your location in the water instead of your home location which is 7 miles away? I'm sorry for what you might think is splitting hairs but not 100% sure according to how you wrote this up. Also you said, "Set it at work or home to known location." What does that mean? Does the system 'jump' you to a new location when the car is motionless? Is that what you mean by "GPS location keeps changing."?
Anyway---I understand you've had the sunshade thingy for over a month. Any window tinting? Any chance a connection isn't fully seated in the GPS control unit located in the trunk?
If I were you I would examine the GPS control unit & any harnesses or antenna cables, etc, connected to it. I would also eject the dvd, start the car, let the system boot up, then re-insert the dvd. Any chance your battery might need to be changed out? I've heard, via the forum, the car does really weird electrical things when the battery is low and needing to be replaced.
Sorry for replying to your questions with questions.
