Low Tire Light Won't Go Off After Reset
So I got a nail in my tire and it was too close to the sidewall and had to be replaced. My "low tire" light came on and that's how I spotted the tire with the nail.
I got the tire replaced with a brand new one, the other 3 tires had about 8,000 miles on them.
My "low air" light keeps coming on, despite the fact I've reset it. My understanding is the reset happens when you turn the ignition to on, and hold in the tire button under the dash for like 7 seconds.
I double checked all the tires, and they all have the right pressure.
Am I doing something wrong? This never happened before until I got this nail in my tire.

Hey man.
So each wheel has an air sensor on it, my guess is one of them is faulty and that's why it's giving you this sign.
In my case, I used the spare tire and for some really weird reason it was not adjusting after the air-reprogramming. I changed the whole set because I was needing new tires, and it was gone.
I think what happened was that I must have had one wheel letting off some air really slowly or something like that.
Just check the sensors first, then if it that didn't help out. Try taking each wheel off and diagnosing it for any problem.
All luck to you.

BTW, my car is a 2004.
My understanding is that our cars don't have the same sensors that the new cars have in each tire, it uses the car's abs system to make that calculation.
So I'm wondering if the one new tire is messing with those calculations or is there some other sensor that needs to be replaced?
It's definitely annoying, I never had this issue before.

Correct - No sensors in wheels of '04 LS.
To clear, you must "Initialize" TPMS, not "reset" it.
To Initialize:
Turn ignition key to "on", but don't start, Press and HOLD the TPMS Reset button until "Initialize" appears on dash display.

It appears in order for the system to properly initialize, the car door has to be closed?
I had the door open so I could crouch down and find the right button, and I held it in forever.
However, when I closed the door and held the button in, it made a chime and the message appeared.
Maybe it was just a goof on my part, but I really think the car door has to be closed for it to set properly. Hope it helps someone else.

Personally, I'm glad our cars don't have those sensors on the valve stems, it's just another expense you have to incur. The whole units need to be replaced every few years and it usually costs around $200-$300.
