sport shocks 2006 ls430
So, I have researched the forum about the sport package and I also found that you can get the parts from Sewell Lexus in Dallas for $2,272.34 part number LS430SPORT. That's too much money for me considering labor and with a spring change it may be a bigger change than I want with no economical retreat. However, there is also a kit for just the sport shocks for $946.10 part number 4851080131KIT.
I was wondering if that 4851080131 kit is all I need to replace my stock shocks with sport shocks. And then I was wondering if you guys think there would be a noticeable benefit from replacing shocks at 55,000 miles with sport shocks. I am going to replace the rear sway bar with a sports sway bar also.
I have no reason to suspect my shocks are not good. It's just that in my experience shocks often go bad like boiling the frog, so slowly that you don't always notice.

I test drive the OEM sports package on an 06 LS before I found my car. Frankly I was underwhelmed. For that kind of money I'd investigate what is available from aftermarket performance suspension parts and shock makers rather than spend big $ on fairly mild Lexus factory sports parts. Maybe nothing else is available but for high dollars you should check to see if you might be able to get higher performance suspension bits for same or less money.

I purchased and installed the rear sports sway bar. I was around $200 installed I think. Produced a barely perceptible but real improvement in handling and tracking on curves. For that kind of money the mod was quick, cheap and worth it.

When I bought my 04 Sport the difference was as Jab described underwhelming when I compared it to even the 04 I traded in with 200k. It grows on ya and the best I can describe is it lets you take turns flatter by 5-10 mpg more and there is not as much suspension travel. It will even kind of bottom out but not really on large wide hwy bumps woop de do's, rarely . I would never buy the std suspension again even with the subtle difference it makes. Having said that I would buy a 08 up 535 or 07 up A8 and keep the money yur talking about for repairs if handling was a priority.

Just to clarify my somewhat vague post - if a mint condition used LS with the Sport suspension would have been available when I was looking to buy, I would have been very motivated to buy it since additional cost for that package was very small to zero on the used car market, so the value was very high. But now that I own an LS I would not pay relatively high Lexus prices for parts to try to add the Sports option after the fact. I'd look for aftermarket high performance suspension parts instead if I wanted to pimp my LS.

Ok, I agree doing the full sports package mod is too much, but what about just the sport shocks for about $1k oem or, say, $600+ for good aftermarket shocks. (I am going to do the oem sway bar regardless.) Cannot some of the cost be assigned to improving my current situation? I assume my current shocks are worn some material percentage (maybe 50%.)
In my life of driving shocks have been something I changed early on mileage not on symptoms because they deteriorated so slowly it was hard to tell how far they had degraded over new. I also believe that having good shocks in an emergency has contributed to saving my life on two occasions. So now I am at 50k miles on a car with which I have no real experience. I do not know if new shocks on this car will repeat the pleasant surprise I often experienced with older cars in a different class. If my current shocks are degraded and, additionally, I get a pop for sport type shocks over oem Lexus stock shocks, the cumulative affect might be worthwhile. And personal preference is that I would give up some of the current comfort for better handling.
I was also wondering if changing Lexus shocks was materially more complicated than older cars, perhaps requiring changing what the shocks hook up to, particularly if moving to a different shock stiffness.
I really appreciate the help.

I used to own a 2010 mazda miata and there were multiple companies producing aftermarket shock, spring and sway bar packages for the miata that would significantly improve handling and tracking. Cost for these suspension packages ranged from $800-4,000 or so depending on quality. I think it might be difficult to find similar performance suspension parts the LS430 but if I was considering Lexus sport shocks I'd do a little internet research to see if something might be out there for LS430.

I bought my front replacements from My L Parts. They offer a CL discount. Search for them on here and you will find a thread. Their website will give you the part numbers.
