I can't get this salt/brine off one of my rims...suggestions?
On my move out to LA from TN a month ago I got stuck in an ice storm. There is salt and brine stuck on one of my rims that I can't get off. I have tried soap, scrubbing, etc. No budge. Any heavy duty cleaning items I should try? I was thinking of trying dishwashing detergent or toilet bowl cleaner. It's reallly stuck on there!
Any suggestions?

I wouldn't recommend buying anything acidic. There are plenty of heavy duty wheel cleaners that are out there that are acidic free and are pH balanced safe on all wheel finishes.
You can purchase something like Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner.

Good luck! Hope that helps.

Went to Autozone today and they tried a Simple Green cleaner and a regular wheel cleaner; didn't budge, I didn't really see anythg super high duty.
Would CLR work?

Try Bar Keepers Friend. Use it gently at first make sure it is not damaging the finish.

If you have chrome mirror rims, I would use barkeepers friend ($1.89 at target, same shape as a can of ajax). I used a towel and shook a moderate amount of the powder into it, then dampened the towel to make a paste and rubbed this into the windows and mirrors. I used this product to remove 2-3 years of hard water/lime from sprinklers(car sat for a while without being moved often) and it worked perfectly. it took about 1.5 days to do all of them. I just took my time, as it was not a super quick process in my case.
Originally you could see the pure white water spots on the side mirrors clearly from about 15-20 feet away. Let me put it this way, there were thick enough for you finger nails to catch on them.
Now my lady is jealous at the fact that the windows and mirrors on my 20 year old lexus, look crystal clear when compared to her garaged 7 year old Nissan.
I followed this youtube video:
and also this one
I also read this fishing forum link. (read posts #5, #15, #21 - I wouldn't leave it on your rims for more than 1-2 minutes between each scrub/rinse/inspection. If it is not gone completely, repeat the process.)
