Default New member and a tire / wheel question.

Attachment 295477I now own my first LS430 and love it. 2005 with 80k miles.

Have a question about replacing the wheels. I bought it with aftermarket wheels even though I don't really like them. Stock size wheels are 18x7.5. The current wheels are the same I believe.

Can I put 18x7 or 18x8 wheels on this car? What is the pros and cons to doing so? I do not want the tires to stick out past the fenders. Does offset have anything to do with the tires protruding out past the fenders? I have found some aftermarket replica OEM wheels that I like but some are 18x8and some are 18x7.

Stock off set is 45. And I see why you want to replace them. 18x7 or 8 will be fine.

Bolt pattern is 5x114.3 You don't have to stay with stock offset but it is a good idea to stay pretty close.

Welcome to Club Lexus and congrats on the LS430.

For the wheels you mention, the 8" width will retain the factory fitment with a 45mm offset. The 7" will sit further into the wheel well. If you have thoughts of lowering, 45mm is quite conservative. The wheels will sink in the lower the ride height becomes so a 30-35mm offset is a conservative place to start with a non stretched tire set-up.

the standard rims on the car looks great, go back to the stock rims with your color which is beautiful you will be happy, the car will ride the way it was designed to as well

If you get aftermarket rims don't forget about huge front calipers that are the main reason many rims will not fit without spacers.

I vote for stock 17 or 18" OEM wheels. If you do get another custom set of wheels be sure to get a wheel that are lighter, or at least no heavier, than the standard OEM wheels. Putting heavier wheels and tires (ie. increasing unsprung weight) on any car will decrease ride quality and also negatively affect handling.

Keep an eye in our wheels classified for OEM wheels. These come up with some regularity or post a WTB.

There are a number of threads about various replica wheels: (Search using: replica wheel)

I debate getting the 18" Sport wheels myself.
