Need Help! 2002 Fuel Gauge Problem
I have been a member a while, though with only a couple of posts. I do read forum regularly.
My wife went on trip last week and along the interstate (200 miles from home) she refilled the gas tank and evidently bought some bad gasoline. When she got back on the interstate the car stating bucking, accelerating poorly, in general running rough. Several check engine lights came on.
She made it to the next exit and found a mechanic at one of the gas stations at the exit. The mechanic diagnosed water in the gas and put in a can of SeaFoam fuel additive. The mechanic actually drove the car until it started running well.
The wife continued on her trip with few issues (some occasional rough idle) and bought and installed more SeaFoam additive at next couple of tank fillups. She took the car to an Advanced Auto Parts Store at her destination city and they used a scan tool to reset the codes.
The gas gauge has not worked properly since the problem started. The gauge mostly reads at 1/4 tank except at re-fueling, the gauge goes to empty when tank is full, jumps up to show full intermittently then settles at 1/4 tank.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Stan

if its gas related or fuel injector a bottle of chevron techron fuel system cleaner, not the fuel injection cleaner at walmart for six bucks, if it doesnt fix the problem it will help the fuel system and clean the valves put in with full tank of gas
