What are you trying to tell it?

Same with mine. I don't even know where the microphone is so I can shout into it. :P

According to the manual it is in the roof console:

The manual also says that you do not have to speak directly into the microphone.

But I agree: it doesn't work reliable. But you mileage may vary
"screen off" is the command I use most. When I don't need the map, the screen is only disturbing when I should keep my eyes on the road and the other traffic.
Second probably "suspend guidance".

Nice to demonstrate (if it works, which usually is not the case when you want to show off...), but my opinion is that the practical use is limited.
I usually just touch the appropriate *****/switches.

The same applies to the volume control. The rotating **** is easier for me than the controls on the steering wheel.

Just my 2 cents.

I find it very useful, but only in certain situations. I most often use it for "screen off", "zoom in/out" (VERY handy as you don't have to dig into the nested menu, definitely not something you should be doing while driving), and occasionally to change the temp ("72 degrees", etc.).

"Get lost" is pretty funny - it routes you to the nearest airport.

I definitely agree with Jac that the volume **** is better than the steering wheel buttons - the simplest interface is the best.

I don't know if my voice command mic is busted or what but it has not worked since I've had it. I will say anything random and sometimes it will do a random function and other times it will say it doesn't recognize the command.

Well it helps if you say something it's programmed to recognize, not something random! There's a list floating around on this forum and a (more partial) list from one of the "Help" options within the Nav system itself that'll give you the available commands.

You could just try "zoom in" and "zoom out" with the map up for starters. Pull the button, WAIT FOR THE BEEP, then speak. Of course if there's noise in the car, other people talking, you mumble, etc. it won't recognize the command. Voice recognition is far from perfect.

EDIT: Here's one of the lists from a long time ago, post #11 here https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...-commands.html

I've tried the real voice commands also and it will give me something else or not recognize it.

Voice activation is really just for showing off when friends get in to try to answer the 'why is this 3x the price of a normal car?' question lol . I also use it when my family ride with me. It doesn't like my temp commands at all, my 72 = 77 in the car's mind lol. Zoom in/out works pretty consistently. Go home is also a pretty good one. Wait for the car the beep then loudly and clearly say it. I can get it to understand me at highway speeds (testament to how quiet the cabin is lol). Go home is the real useful one as it lets you keep your eyes on the road instead of pull over and scroll through a few menus.

My car included a card that has a list of common voice commands. I agree that generally it doesn't seem to understand me. One that does work for me is deleting points of interest that are on screen. The command is "POI Off". That works for me.

There are two buttons on the left side of the steering wheel further back from the volume buttons. Like the volume buttons they both work by pulling them towards you. The top one is voice command, the bottom one is for the telephone.
