I need a list of the voice commands for the 2004 LS 430. The owner's manual says to use the help function. I assume Lexus has a printed list somewhere.
One of the more interesting things about the LS430 voice activated navigation system is the microphone is located on the passangers side of the overhead console. What was Lexus thinking? This has worked out good for me, because my hands free phone kit now uses the drivers side overhead console microphone position.
For me there are only about 6 or 7 voice commands that are reliable - the rest are so prone to misinterpretation that I do not use them - they usually do more harm than good.
RELIABLE
"POI OFF"
"ZOOM IN"
"ZOOM OUT"
"REPLACE DESTINATION"
"ADD TO DESTINATION"
"MARK THIS PLACE"
"STOP GUIDANCE"
Annoyingly, the one I would use almost all the time - "GO HOME" - is notoriously unreliable. It mistakes it for "BANK", "GOLF COURSE", "CD CHANGE" and a variety of other random stuff.
Anyone else have similar trouble?
Additionally the command "GO HOME" is described as "HOME" and as "GO HOME" in different Help sections ("GO HOME" appears to be the correct phrase).
I find the speech recognition to be pretty poor and the one area of the 2004 LS430 that is a disappointment.
I wonder if they can upgrade this at a later point?
There is a fold out card that I like to call the "Cliff Notes" of the navigation guide. It should be inside your Lexus black "organizer" owner's manual as soon as you unsnap it open. Fold out the card. In the middle there is a box with about 30 or so commands.
Thanks a lot, I sat this a.m. while killing time till spouse and kids were ready to head out to church looking over the Command Help menu and contemplated taking the laptop outside and sitting and typing in all of these. You just saved me doing that!
