Naples Lexus sealed my trans pan with silicone instead of using a gasket..
I get my oil changed over the weekend. I asked the guy if I could go into the bay and see the size of my stock sway bar because I had just ordered the upgrade. While under the car, we noticed some residue on the transmission pan. Lexus of Naples (FL) has twice had to seal my transmission pan because they didnt do it right the first two times (they usually do great work). They sealed it with orange silicone instead of using the proper gakset...is this right? normal? standard?

Could be in order.
Acc to the repair manual they should use FIPG on the oil pan (so: no "proper gasket" in the usual shape).
FIPG is foam-in-place gasketing.
The recommended type is THREE BOND 1281.
This is an orange/almond color type of silicone paste.
So, as far as I can judge from here, all might be done well.
Hope this helps.

Lextech has worked on all of my family's vehicles (94 LS400, 99 GS300, 01 GS430, 01 LS430, 04 RX330, 97 SC300) I'm sure the 07 LS460 and '11 RX 350 will be going when there warranties are up.
