i asked if there was a way to turn on the fogs independently of all the other lights and apparently there is and a few have done it. i was told that most decent stereo shops should be able to hook it up for you relatively easily. i just never went to a stereo shop unfortunately since then...

Anyone know in the LS430 section who has done this mod? I have completed the task on a gs but not yet on the LS. I wonder if it's the same.

you can search the thread topics in the ls430 section for the one i posted up a couple months ago and it still wasn't the first one apparently but i think it was titled something like 'fogs lights on independent of headlights' and in that thread someone wrote 1 or 2 other members who had this mod done on an ls430.

I as well have it done......(day time shots are hard to tell) mine is an actual separate switch, so I don't need the parking light on...

^^I don't have to have my parking lights on i just like the effect of the LED's in the park light, i can run no lights(BK creep mode),fogs by themselves, fogs & prk lights or all & all this is controlled through the factory light switch...no need for a seperate switch

P.S. i'll get pics of all the modes tomorrow since i just took the one i posted when i got home from work.

There are two ways to have this done. The safe and sound method involves rewiring the relay. I have done it on both my previous LS400 and GS using the same methods prescribed for the GS. I just had to use a v meter to identify the right wire from the stalk.

Most shops will take the easier way and tap the fogs (esp when you have HID's installed on fogs) to the parking lights. This effectively does the same thing but over exhausts those wires as they were never intended to take such a high additional load.

now i have a question, so if you got this re-wired or what not to have the fogs independent of the other lights does this mean that if you leave your lights on auto they won't turn off after 60 seconds or if you leave them on they won't turn off automatically like they do stock???

If they do it right the fog will work exactly as the headlights should, meaning yes they'll turn off after 60sec's & they'll turn off if you leave them on just like stock, also they should turn off when you hit the lock button twice as well.
