I did a search and there is no DEFINITE solution to this.
the guy who replaced it with a JL w0 is not a good solution, the impedance is wrong to. Also there is nothing definite that states what the impedance is for the 8" levinson sub.
what is the impendance ? You help me out and I will come up with a better solution.

To find out the impedance for the subwoofer, hook up a ohm meter (digital multimeters) and check for resistance (with the speaker terminals disconnected). Whatever reading you get is the speakers impedance and therefore you need to purchase a subwoofer with an equivelent reisitance value.
As far as what type, you're better off with a free-air sub. What brand depends on the listener. Listen to different types and see which you like.

yes I have a DMM and I understand that, BUT I'd like to order my replacement sub KNOWING WHAT IMPEDANCE I NEED. This way I can install int all in one day.
it wouldn't make sense to remove the levinson sub, get the impendance and wait a week to order my sub right ?
and since this subject has been beaten so much, HOW COME NOBODY KNOWS it off hand ?

I put a JL 8w0 in and it sounds great. I just upgraded to two Jl 12w6v2 so I dont need the Jl anymore. Its pretty much brand new, only used for like a month. I paid over $100 at tweeter, but ill let it go for $50 plus shipping. lmk
