Default smart access getting dumb?

I have a 2004 ls with smart access. A few ago, when I tried to start the car, the dash read-out said key not detected. I then inserted the fob into the ignition and It started fine. Tonight when I approached the car, the puddle lamps came on, the door opened, but the ignition switch would not turn. I then inserted the fob, and it still would not turn.

I exited the car, locked it and then unlocked it and it still would not turn. Both the red and green lights were blinking. When I locked the car there was a longer beep than usual, but not over a couple seconds. I tried locking and unlocking the car using the buttons on the fob, and still the key would not turn.

Their was a red light on the fob. what does that mean?

After trying I could thing of, I tried holding in the unlock button on the fob while trying to turn the key, and it finally turned.

It all seems to work fine now so I know that if I take it to the dealer, they wouldn't find a problem

Anybody else have these gremlins and how did the dealer diagnose and fix the problem.

thanks for the advice.

Number one item I would check is the battery on the remote key. My Lexus dealer will change if for free as a courtesy.
