I just purchased my LS430 two weeks ago. Its deceleration is exceptionally long. When I lift my foot off the accelerator pedal, the car continues coasting for about 20 - 30 seconds at the same speed it was going at before it finally starts to decelerate. Worried about fuel consumption and brake pad wear because breaking the car requires more effort than it should. I would like to find out if others have similar experiences and could there be something wrong with my vehicle.

If you just bought it, take it the dealer to get it checked up, its all under warranty.

Get used to it. These cars coast for so long you really have to change your driving style a bit. The upside is once you become accustomed to the way the car behaves, you can really squeeze more MPG out of the car. I think the low coefficient of drag plus the 6 speed trans on the 04+ really help as well.

If I'm in expressway traffice that is always changing speed a bit, I just pull the shift lever into 5th gear. I'm still getting good mileage and I have a bit more engine braking so I'm not always tapping the brakes when the traffic slows 2-3 mph. Good luck!

You might want to check the air pressure in your tires. I have read a lot of posts where the dealers either overfill or don't check the tire pressure before delivering a car. It could be the low coefficient of drag, but I would bet that your tires are overfilled.

get used to the V8. if you want to decrease the use of braking, using your best judgement to downshift with the gated shifter and the car will slow faster.
