Default Need some help with P.S. Idle up valve

I just spent the last 2 hours searching thru threads on the idle up valve (with some real work at my job mixed in) and I still have not got the answers I am looking for.

1. How much do they cost?
2. Any other sources other than the dealer?
3. Does a bottle of stop leak have any effect on the problem?
4. How hard is it to replace? 1,2,3,4 or a 5 banana job?
5 Has anyone else got the check engine light in combination with the idle up leak? I notice a good amount of smoke somtimes at start up and suspect it could have fouled the o2 sensor. thoughts?

I am starting to think the Lexus Gods gave the 1st gen 400 quite a few "achilles heals" to deal with.

I also have the Idle Up Valve problem with my P. S. I ordered the Idle up Valve a few weeks ago and it's been in back order for some time. The Idle up Valve is going to be a little over $200 plus labor. The tail pipes throw out that white smoke on most start ups due to the power steering fluid being sucked in and released by the tail pipes. I also have my check engine light on, I hope when I get the Idle up Valve replace it will turn off because that light is soo annoying. If you have any other questions just post up a message.

Have you tried to band aid the problem with a little PS stop leak? I am ready to dump the car so I need a quick fix. Also do you have the part number your ordered? Who from lex or toyota? Did they gave you an est back in stock date?

Thanks a bunch
Chad

My mechanic ordered the peice from Lexus of Kendall in Miami so I don't know what's the part number, the STOP LEAK bottle for power steering won't stop anything because there is no leak, the PS is being sucked by the engine through a hose, I tryed to disconnect the hose to see if the engine would stop sucking my PS but it still does, I think the only thing you can do if you have the same problem with the white smoke on start ups is to get a new idle up valvue, but check to make sure that your hoses are not leaking and that the problem is the idle up valuve not something else. Check for leaks around the PS pump and see if the PS pump is still good.

anyone know the exact location of this valve????????? I assumed it was a "leaky" valve so I thought the stop leak might fix the problem?

I have the same problem and I read in the forum that the valve could be bypass. But, have not had a chance to fix mine.
