Steering Column Volume Controls (1/2/3 or ^/v/set)
Hi All,
I just bought a 2001 LS430 that came with a phone kit installed. I've had no luck finding a suitable phone, so I'd like to get the steering column volume controls go back to working the radio. I'm told that the phone kit changes these up/down/set volume controls to some sort of speed dial for the phone. Now when I press these, the radio volume goes slowly down to almost off, or just off completely.
My dealer has checked this, and assures me that this is normal behavior for a phone-enabled car, and that there's no way to reverse the phone kit installation, without spending megabucks on a new wire harness. This sounds a little fishy to me.
So, first off, can someone with a 2001 LS with the phone kit, verify that this is the expected behavior, and that my car's not broke, and secondly, does anyone know a magic trick to get my volume controls back again?
I guess another option is to fine a phone and plug it in, but unless you guys offer to sell me one, I doubt that's gonna happen
Thanks!
Eric
