If you're going to go to the trouble of removing and then reinstalling your head unit, you might as well pay the extra $50 or so and get bluetooth as well.

Right, the switch is how you deal with not having enough inputs. The aux and/or bluetooth receiver piggyback on the FM1/2 input. The additional switch is how you toggle between the FM radio and the aux when you have the FM input selected. When you select any of the other inputs (CD, AM, Tape), the switch is irrelevant.

Doublecheck to see if your Bluetooth option includes the ability to receive and listen to phone calls through your speakers.
I researched the same type of modification - can't remember the firm - when I had an SC400 and they said the BT option was just so you can hear music without using a cord., and did not have any effect on receiving phone calls through your speakers.
You'll have better sound when using a cord, anyway, so the BT option - to me - is not worth the extra money.

what i did on my 2000 is I hooked a 1/8 stereo jack to the input of the cd player.
my cd player stopped working so I connected a 6' aux cable from where the inputs go into the factory amp, (under passenger seat)
the AM/FM radio still works and when I press cd I can play whatever I want through the AUX cable.
But now I went with a aftermarket double din, speakers, 2 amps, and sub.
