Is it critical to get OEM fuel filter or is aftermarket acceptable?

no, they aren't. if you look in the description the parts are listed as being either "OParts" brand or "bosch".(oil filter only).

Not even close to OEM, despite the title.

On the ad it shows BRAND: OEM -- that's why I wanted to confirm.

So is it critical to use OEM fuel filter ?

Yes, I would say it is critical. The OEM Denso filter is not prohibitively expensive and the OEM filters will easily last 250-300,000 miles plus. The same can't be said for aftermarket.

There actually is an aftermarket parts brand that named "OEM", kind of like Denso, ACDelco, etc... It may be who made that particular one....

I think they likely picked the name just to confuse and screw people. Pretty sure Autozone carries them among several others...

it's hard to get actual OEM parts at 3rd party websites like that and as you know the prices can be used to determine if it's truly OEM or not.

there are sites that do sell OEM other than a dealership. most sites advertise 'genuine' OEM toyota/lexus and list actual OEM part numbers. be careful as some site do show the OEM part as an 'alternative to'.

as for the fuel filter, i would def get OEM, for reasons already stated by PD!
