Paint protection
http://www.empirecovers.com/buy-road-wrap.aspx
Has anyone here ever used something like this, to protect from parking lot scratches etc.?
I'm surprised there isn't something like a large magnetic mat to fit on doors and fenders to protect from denting. But then I guess someone could just rip em off. Any good ideas out there?
I think the plasti dip is not a good idea. I would never put a petroleum thinned product over a good paint job. Maybe the water based version that some outfit now has.

road wrap is just for long distance driving to temporarily protect paint. it will not protect against dents and larger scuffs.
if you want long term protection, either use opticoat on the paint itself, or good waxes and sealants. there really is nothing that can protect the car from parking lot scratches outside of hiring a guard to watch the car while parked. of course you can help it by parking carefully, far away from others.

I do it all the time. Problem is you can't always find a safe place. Then theres the idiots that figure out how wide a park space is. Some times its 7 feet for a 6 and half foot car NICE.

Put a bunch of those little blade things like the romans had on the racing chariots all over the car... People will think twice before they fling their door open next to you!
