Exclamation Costco MF cloths, Good or Bad?

Hey guys,

I need some expert advice here, before I take action with these MF cloths.

I recently bought a pack of MF cloths from Costco...http://www.costcobusinessdelivery.co....11895673.html

They feel and look decent, but I haven't used them yet. I did some research and some say you can use for everything (including paint), and some say everything, BUT paint.

Any opinion on these MF cloths? Are they safe for paint? (Waxing, buffing, etc)

havent tried kirkland MF towel. but from the people that say everything but paint i would probably agree with them. judging from the picture the edges has the potential to add scratches to your car. i would stick to one that has a smooth fabric around the edges to minimize scratches while wiping car

Thanks!

From the looks of it, seems like the majority is saying its bad for paint =\

Any recommendations for MF cloths that is safe for paint? Like quick detailing, waxing, etc.

I've read that Meg's Supreme Shine is pretty good and safe for paint. Thoughts?

Thanks Zach! You write really good articles!

Just one more question if you don't mind.

I've notice that on some MF cloth that the two sides are different.. 1 side is super plush, and the other is rather flat and less soft.

Is there a reason behind this? Does one side do better at certain jobs vs. the other?

Sorry, but I'm a complete newbie.

Some towels have a dual pile... typically one side is a shorter nap and the other is a longer nap. These can be quite useful as shorter nap is great at wiping off heavier products like compounds and polish, and the longer nap side works great for buffing the final residue away. These types of towels can also be great for sealant and wax removal for the same reasons.

Thanks Zach!

So for quick detailing and wax I should stick with the longer nap

I have two sets of these Costco towels. I love them for the price and I use them on interiors. The fibers are loose from the get go so you need to wash them first. Although usable on paint, I have higher quality towels dedicated for paint. I think of Costco towels as all purpose towels. As they get more worn out, I put them to drying rims then tires and then the trash.

I use the Costco towels for window wash down before I use my glass waffle weave towels. I also use the Costco towels to clean the interior and then I'll use them for door jams. I don't never let them touch my paint. I buy my most of my microfiber towels from autogeek as I use the rinse less waterless washing method. I don't ever use the Costco towels on my paint

I've used the Costco MF on my paint before and while it never did anything damaging to the paint, it does seem to leave lint behind.

I went ahead and bought a few sets of Meg's Supreme Shine MF towels for paint only (just in case lol). There is a huge difference in quality between the Megs SS and Costco's.

The costco MF will just be used for interior, wheels, engine bay, glass, and whatever else.
