i just did some shopping and found that rotella T6 is only sold around my area at 5w-40. also it's for diesel cars/trucks?! is this what everyone is running?
btw, walmart oil prices cannot be beat! i already knew that but just wanted to let everyone know if you don't have a 'hook up'. that's the only time you'd catch me at that store though. shopping there is a nightmare, among other things, but i digress...

5w40 a nice range for colder weather climates. I run rotella for 7yrs or so on all my cars, seems fine? Its pretty hard to tell what is the bestest, I'm with Shmee really, regular oil changes with any kind of virgin oil and I think you're in pretty good shape. I often wonder if the guys who insist on designer oils like Redline and Motul are just buying image, really don't know if they are all that people rave that it is.

Oil brands are often a matter of perspective - for example Motul over there may be considered designer oils but on this side of the pond it is just one off the shelf brand among many others. My LS at the moment has Total in it.

That sheet shows a red dot for 5w-30 only in all LS400s... is that correct? Doesnt show the early years either...
Lately I have been having problems with my oil level light being tripped when its cold and im going 80 for an extended period of time. Its absolutely random too, sometimes it happens, but most the time it doesnt. Even if I beat the crap out of it and red line it in third into OD at 105mph, the light doesnt come on....I am suspecting the oversize filter because I never had this issue until this last oil change.

QUESTION: Is Supertech Full Synthetic 5w-30 a good oil to use for a '94 LS400 w/ 213k miles? I've been using Valvoline Synpower but was switching to Pennzoil Ultra UNTIL i read how cheaper this option is.......
