Default Rearview mirror with compass?

Is there a JDM or ls430 rearview mirror that will integrate with our ls400s that has a built in compass, and will retain the auto dim function?

does your GS have the auto dimming feature as well? If it does i dont see an issue with swapping that into the LS

Sadly it does have auto dim. Thats the rub, I love the compass but I hate the auto dim on both cars. I shut it down with the button but really wish it could work like my seat heaters and stay off till I turn it back on but it dims every night.

auto dim is a poor feature if you have tinted windows, so i opted to install an aftermarket broadway mirror in its place. i would imagine it would hide the compass feature however.

I was wondering about that.

I plan on tinting my windows next week.

Is there a way to get rid of the auto dim, and add a switch? So I could just hit the switch and make it dim?

it has a switch, it's just on by default.

Im sure adding an aftermarket mirror, or factory LS430/2GS/2IS mirror will work if you can sort out mounting and give it +12v for the compass. Wouldn't just bolt-in though i don't think.

I was thinking about adding a switch to make it dim.

when the windows are tinted, the sensor doesnt pickup headlights making it dim. maybe I could open it up and replace the photosensor thing with a toggle switch instead.

the photosensor is on the mirror pcb itself, good luck with that.
