need help repair shop mess something up with my 1992 ls 400
my 1992 ls 400 ran perfectly motor was strong,, quiet, and great on gas. I had a repair shop replace my front main seal, and my rear drive line support . it took them 2weeks to get my car back because they said the rear driveline support was a special order and took 9 day to get it then they tood me it was the wrong part so I had to wait 2 or 3 more days , but when I got my car back I notices it sounded like crap and the engine was running load and rough , I started down the road and it began to jerk back and forth so I step on the gas pedal 3/4 of the way down and I had no power and it made this muffle nosie like something was clog in preventing my car from fully accelatoring like it would have before I brought to the repair shop , so I brought it back to them and they said they fix it well they didn't and told me my car a peiace a crap and sell it , I lost it with them and demanded they fix what ever they did to make my car run and sound and eat gas up like u wouldn't belive, , what could be the problem? I thought tt could be the timing . it don't know I just spent 900.00 for this problem.

yes, I agree, timing belt installed incorrectly - and if it had been a 95 or newer, they would be buying you a new engine
for now, they owe you your money back, plus whatever it costs to get it straightened out at another shop, and don't worry, the courts will side with you if it comes to that, judges take a dim view of incompetent mechanics screwing the customer out of their money via either crookedness or negligence. - the main thing is not to just eat your loss, make them pay and then spread the word on facebook and anywhere else that they have no clue.
but first give them a chance to refund your money and pay for the corrected repair, before getting the local TV station involved, court, etc.
this is why you must ask around and find out who has the best reputation in town for doing it right the first time!

9 days? really! sounds like fraud. it doesnt take 9 days for a part from anywhere in the USA..i hope u went back every other day to check up. if not, check ur engine vin if its the same vin # or check all ur parts to make sure some work was done. also for any new markings on the engine bay area... it takes me 1.5 hrs by myself to take out that motor in my garage.. this happen to my buddy before, where his engine was complete swapped for an older engine.. all accessory was reused but the long block was change. took the mechanic 2 weeks for a new parts too... it all came down to color atv silicone. my buddy uses black and the change was gray..

I have to say I would think a mechanic should know how to install a timing belt but it is so easy to check that the belt is on right. All you need to do is remove a few plastic covers and put the engine on top dead center and line up the marks on the new belt with the marks on the cam pulleys this should only take half an hour and then you will know.I fell like the problem is in the troddle body or a vac line is not on or a cam sensor my be not connected all the way on maybe as simple as a bad coil ,but the best you can do in court would be to get your money back and only after you spend the money to do the above things first. You will get all the money that it cost you to find the problem and the money to put you back in the same place that you were in before the repair.but if the repair is not the problem and only something they did wrong then that repair would be on them.

i guess u never done a engine swap before! i've done 20. these motors has a total of 2 motor mounts with 1 bolt each and tranny crossmember with maybe 4 bolts. then the drive shaft, 4 more bolts from there its disconnecting hoses and a few plugs that goes to abs, trac, and ac... i stripped my sc400 in 2 days and cut it up for a guy to pick up to recycle... u be suprise what u can do with the rite tools. abd mechanica has all the tool..
