Just got my UCA at amazon. I was going to order dorman, but they were around $160 everywhere I looked, so I ordered Raybestos, for $102:
And then I see this little note:
"Usually ships within 1 to 2 months. "
I am thinking that it cannot be two months, I mean, its not like these are custom made by 12 virgins and then delivered by sherpas... So I will keep you posted how quickly I got them and how the installation went. Wish me luck

Free shipping too. Ordered both left and right, even though it is my right that is more of a problem, but I hear one should change these in pairs so... (is that really true? what if I only bought the right one, would it be impossible to align or something?)And then I see this little note:

OK, just checked with amazon again, and it says the UCA will arrive some time in June.
So I cancelled the order.
Will be ordering dorman from rockauto, unless someone knows of a better deal elsewhere. Currently they are around $165 ea on rockauto.

I just purchased a pair of dorman uca off Amazone for 345.60 shipped to US address, hand carried to VN. it says made in Taiwan. will get them in today and post some pix and comments.
I got them replaced yesterday and result was amazingly good. my car is back to new again :-). it took them less than 2 hours including wheel re-alignment to replace 2 UCAs, 2 outer rod ends, 1 inner rod end (passenger side). everything fits well and the car is back "as smooth as silk" :-)

I installed new Dorman UCAs and Raybestos (professional grade) LBJs (for 2nd gen LS400 on my 1st gen LS). They are both perfect in every respect - they've been on my car for three months now, and the car really improved - has that "new car" feel to it when driving/steering.

UCA's - in my opinion, ALL of them are made by the same Taiwan manu. plant
Thanks for the welcome. I've been monitoring the forum since I bought my 2000 ls400 back last October. I've been very disappointed in the fact that all the aftermarket UCAs look the same and nothing like the original ones. I didn't really want to plunk down over $1000 on the ones from Lexus.

"Made-in-Tiawan" is not a bad thing per say. You do realize about 80-90% of the things you used daily are made in china/India/tiawan/etc... And it is not uncommon for multiple brands to use the same source/plant for parts or a similar if not identical design for their parts. When you are engineering something from an existing basic design, there are only one or two ways to design something that is structurally sound and cost effective.
This is a fundamental law of manufacturing.
If you have issues with the parts you bought, return them.
