Default $29.29 LCD Digital Thermometer DT-300

(it takes about 10 days to arrive from Hong Kong so be patient)

also, every owner of a 95 and newer Lexus should strongly consider this $17 OBD-II diagnostic code scanner that works great! - that price is just insane!

I own both of these and they are some of the best buys of 2013

PS - before you laugh at the $2.81 voltmeter, I will tell you that I checked it against my $400 Fluke 87 series V multimeter and it is spot on!
Since the voltage meter works great for me and I wanted to buy one more for my wife's car.

I found the company also sells http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Digital-Thermometer-DT-300-MIn-Non-Contact-Infrared-/390567707606?pt=US_Weather_Meters&hash=item5aefa643d6 and I ordered it together with another voltmeter. The payment was still less than $33 to my door.

While ago those arrived and I just checked the thermometer. The 4 measuring results below are from my wife's car Toyota Avensis which is not common in USA but rather common in Japan, Europe and Oceania. She just came back from the shopping and the engine was at a warmed up condition. The thermometer also indicated 36.3 degrees C when I measured my wife's ear. I'd say it's accurate enough for a Sunday mechanic like me.

do you have a nice infrared thermometer to compare the accuracy with, like you did on the voltmeter with your high end voltmeters, side by side?

I don't have any more infrared type but I have a 3 digits digital thermometer which detects temperature using an external sensor shown below. This shows just 100degrees C when the water is boiling up at 1 atm condition. But it only has 3 digits. Anyway I will be comparing them soon.

I wanted to measure and compare these two when the water is boiling up. But too much moisture disturbed the measurement. I stopped heating and waited a couple of minutes and then measured again. The result was 87and 86.9 degrees C.

Question about this OBD-II diagnostic code scanner....
A/C button is blinking on the NAVI and A/C doesn't work. Will this tool read the code ???

Many UCF20/21 models for non-US market is not OBD-II compatible, I am afraid.
My 98 JDM does not communicate with a LM327 code reader at all.

Good to know. Now I know why my OBD 2 reader didn't work on the Celsior...

Yamae san, is there an affordable code reader that I can buy from Japan to read the codes on JDM Celsior? It would be something nice for me to have since my current obd 2 reader is useless.

I don't know how much you can afford to pay for it but there is none I can buy without getting my wife's permission because those are very expensive here.

JDM UCF20/21 and early version of UCF30/31 need a special scanner called a S2000 which costs more than 300,000 Yen (about $3,000). You can find the detail of it at here.

There are some others but those cost more than a S2000 according to shop owners I know. One of them bought a HDM-3000 below. He paid more than 500,000 Yen for it.
