this is a cool voltmeter that plugs into your cigarette lighter and will tell you instantly how your battery is (with car off) and how your alternator is performing (with car on) - $2.81 to your door! - how can you beat that, diagnostic answers without even cracking the hood! (it takes about 10 days to arrive from Hong Kong so be patient)
also, every owner of a 95 and newer Lexus should strongly consider this $17 OBD-II diagnostic code scanner that works great! - that price is just insane!
I own both of these and they are some of the best buys of 2013
PS - before you laugh at the $2.81 voltmeter, I will tell you that I checked it against my $400 Fluke 87 series V multimeter and it is spot on!

Bought 2 volt meters and they work great and they are spot on as you say. My 1991 ls average voltage is 13.5-13.8 getting the obd2 next thanks for the lead on these products.

I ordered the volt meter about 4 weeks ago and it's delivered today.
I just compared it using 2 other my digital multi-meters one Fluke 8060A and the other Hioki 3256-50. When the Fluke 8060A is indicating 13.410V, the $2.81unit changes the indication 13.4V to 13.5V. It is about 90mV higher.

I ordered three of these myself (my car, girlfriend's car, spare) in early December and I finally got them two weeks ago. Mine reads 14.2V as the norm. Definitely a cool little piece of equipment!

The $2.81 voltmeter has only 3 digits and I think that the 4th is rounded off. For an example, 13.45V to 13.54V must be indicated 13.5V. When the unit changes the indication from 13.4V to 13.5V, it means that the real voltage is 13.450V. The difference between my Fluke 8060A and the unit is 0.04V because 14.450V - 14.410V is 0.04V. So the accuracy is 40mV higher in my case. Anyway, the unit is good enough for my usages.
I don't know my Fluke 8060A is very accurate or not now but a few years ago, I had a chance to check it with the sub-sub national standard and the readout voltage of top 4 digits was just equal to it.

Is there such a thing as a diagnostic scanner for a 93 LS400? I know that there's a connector for it on the console next to the gear shift. If so what is the name of the code it uses?
I was detailing my engine and must have got some solvent in the wrong spot cus when I started it up afterwards it acted like it didnt know how many cylinders to run on - i drove it around the block and it sputtered and hesitated and slowed and faded when I stepped on the gas, Its only got 70k and ran like a mad man before I detailed the engine and now Im afraid to start it. Shore looks purdy tho!
