Default Going to do a retrofit on my 00 LS - I have factory hid's - self leveling concerns

So guys I read somewhere that if I do a retrofit on my car I will get an error code or something with my factory HID system. Is that true? I am about to order a new pair of depo lights to do a retrofit on and go black housings. How do I make sure to not get any error codes?

Ive been searching for like an hour and cannot find the thread lol.

Why not use the backing of the factory headlight and the lens and housing from the Depo headlight? That way you will have brand new headlights and retain autoleveling.

because I am sending out my stuff to get built. I drive
my car daily thus why I am ordering a new pair to minimize down time. The depo lights are for a car with HID so I am assuming that the leveling motor will just bolt up to the new lights. Problem is I do not want the motor to adjust my new projectors right? I thought that once you do a retrofit we lose the self leveling function.

actually you do want it to adjust your new projectors. level is level, as long as whoever does your retro centers and aligns the beam right within the housing. The auto-level should work the same way (though you may need to adjust the beam up/down a bit with the sensors to make it at the right height).

Also, whoever sets your projectors up in the HID housings will need some autolevel motors or else the inner bowls (that the projectors mount to and swivel for auto-level) will just flop around.

thanks PD that was exactly the info I needed. So I guess I will need downtime then. Back to driving the darn SUV for a week LOL. Ill have to send out my OEM lights and the new ones so they can use parts from both. Going to rip apart the corner lights too, clear em and go back housing on all of them. Man this might be a project and I hope it goes smoothly. Sucks that I have to send out my lights to cali for all the labor.

So for sending that out about how much is it running you? Think this is feasible on a 1LS?

be careful with the corners. The lenses are fused into the reflector/housing and aren't going to bake apart.

depends purely on the type of projector and the guy/shop you use. a 1LS is going to need some aftermarket clear-lens headlight housings to start with though.
