Default Need advice

'90 LS400.. has been very troubled free since new but has started having some quirky issues.

When I turned key to start, dash lights came on as usual, but no starter turn. Tried two or three more times, no starter turn. I assumed a low battery, maybe due to cold weather. It started immediately with a jump. No indicator lights showing trouble. On the way to work, stopped at Les Schwab, I know, I know, they tested...said everything was fine; battery, starter & alternator. All good for a bout a week. Same thing again. Starts instantly with a jump, but the starter drags and grinds. All else tests fine again. Bring it home to replace starter. Starter works fine after starting 40-50 times, no jump. But.....now the telescoping wheel does not automatically function, it will by using the buttons , but it cannot be set with the driver set buttons on the drivers door. When you try to set it it never beeps indicating it was set. The dealer just wants me to buy a new one. I really want to fix this one. I only have 140k on it and it runs great.

Follow up: cleaned terminals, checked all fuses, cleaned contacts on starter relay ( very slight corrosion) checked key lock on drivers door (alarm cut out) checked engine codes ( no error codes) , now the car starts fine, auto position for seat, steering column seat belt, mirrors etc all work.... which is great, but nothing I checked/ did appeared to have been enough of an issue to cause the problems...

Any thoughts?

Welcome to Club Lexus.

Yours being a first gen, there are a multitude of electrical gremlins that are associated with this wiring area:
