Default 1990 LS 400 Rack and Pinion PS High Pressure Hose

Good Evening everyone,

I had a leak in the High Pressure line (Input - power steering line) on my rack and pinion for my 1990 LS-400. Thought, okay easy fix, took the line off, one end was stubborn, so we ended up cutting it and using a "easy out nut remover" so the line is now cut. Went to find a replacement hose and found it's not serviceable, seems I have to buy the entire Rack and Pinion just to get the high pressure line. We that's $300.00 for the rack, does anyone know anyplace that may be able to just sell the High Pressure line for the Rack and Pinion? How dangerous is it to drive with the line removed?
Thanks for any responses.

do not drive the car unless you want to burn out the bump and the rack for lack of lubrication.

any hydraulic hose place can rebuild your high pressure hose if you take them the original line and (undamaged) fittings.

oem cost for the price in ~$250-350 iirc, with aftermarket 3rd party suppliers coming in about 60% of that.

Are you talking OEM price for a complete Rack, or just the high pressure hose that is part of the rack?

Why would they make the high pressure hose removable and not make it serviceable? Just doesn't make any sense to me.

I tried both of those - no go, it's the lines that are on the rack and pinion itself, just the input line needs to be replaced. I can get the whole rack and pinion (lines attached) for $300.00 core charge included, but I don't want to have to buy the entire rack and pinion when I only need the one line. It has the same connections as those in the picture, just much smaller.

If you look at this rack, there are two high pressure lines, an input and a return line. I need the input high pressure line

are you talking about those metal pressure tubes that are attached to the rack itself?

those arent end-user serviceable, and honestly i've never seen one leak that wasnt hit in some way....

you're in the hole for a new/remanned rack there buddy.

Yep I sure am, and that is what I was told, they are not serviceable. I've searched all of Michigan Wreck Yards, and nothing shows up. I've seen these racks for as little as $99.00 on ebay, don't know if I would trust that though.

If anyone has any other thoughts, my ear is open.
Thanks for the responses guys.
