Best tire to get for 1st gen LS
#16
I've driven lots of LS400's with different tires.
Energy MXV4- quiet, good gas mileage, decent handling
Yokohama Avid Envigor- little noisier, more direct steering, good mileage
Kuhmo Ecsta LX Platinum- very quiet, slightly soft, very similar to mxv4
BF Goodrich Traction TA- numb steering, loudest, plain sidewall design
Yokohama S-Drive- Very direct steering. Surprisingly quiet for sporty tire. Smooth ride too.
General Altimax HP- Very similiar to Avid Envigor.
Kumho Ecsta HM- my personal tires. Euro market. stiffer than Ecsta LX Smooth ride. Quiet. Direct steering like Yokohama. Summer tires.
If your concerned with ride and price, i'd go with the Kumho's LX Plats. Good price, good warranty, good looks. Very highly rated on tirerack.

For reasonable prices in summer rubber, the Yokohama S-Drives I liked and they were flipable. The current Continental DW is very nice but asymmetrical so I don't expect much longevity beyond 20K miles. The guys with lots of camber would be lucky to hit 10K.
