Default Wheel Sizing 101

Hello, New here. New owner of a '92 LS 400. I know squat about wheel sizing. I want to bigger and lower but not to the extent that I have wheel rub issues. This is a daily driver that has to be practical. I drive on real roads that have speed bumps, plus I'm an old coot (age 47) and not looking to make a luxury car feel like sitting on a jack hammer. I have my road bike for that

I'm thinking 18" rims (maybe 19 at most) and maybe 225/50-55/18 tires...how much can I lower the springs without problems?

Usually for 1st gen UCF10 LS400's such as yours 18's are the best size for achieving maximum lowness and minimal rubbing. I have had Success with 18x9.5 with offsets in the 0-20 range. 18x10 for the rear would be another good option with similar offset range. Either way you go, make sure that you keep up on your alignments and roll the fenders and stretch tires for fender clearance.
