Rust treatment for 1992 LS400?
Hello - New to the forum. Thanks for all the interesting reading so far!
Just got my 1992 LS400. 200,000 km, in excellent condition. No rust - yet!
The car came from the West coast (Uncle in BC). They don't salt their roads out there....
Here in Atlantic Canada, we salt like there is no tomorrow. Makes cars rust fast!
I want to rust treat my new-to-me Lexus. Any suggestions particular to the LS400
that I sould look out for?
Thanks!

There really isn't anything particular to the LS400 that I know of. Common rust spots will be around the wheel wells, bottom of the doors (from scratching curbs and the drains) and the trim above the windshield. It'll take several years for rust to show up so I think you're fine for now. Some of the rubberized under-body paint may be chipping off due to age so you may want to check the undercarriage and chassis and reapply if necessary. Another thing you could do is always wash out the wheel wells and the bottom in the car so the salt does not stay in there for long. I don't like automatic washes but sometimes you just have to take it in the winter to get everything off, and I'm not going to get my hose out when it's 30 F outside.
