98 ls400 valve cover gasket replacement tips
Hey everyone.. Another project on my ls400. This summer my 98 ls400 (226,000 miles) started leaking oil.. It drives me crazy and is getting a bit worse. So it appears the issue is likely a bad valve cover gasket. I need to double check and make sure but I am checking for good instructions on how change myself with the exact parts needed. I am not mechanic but do have a little knowledge on cars.. I have found this link but it is for the 1st generation (http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/engine/valvecover.html). I am sorry if I missed a link but please let me know if someone has one they can send to me or give me any tips. thank you!

I don't think there is a tutorial for the later LS400, you could buy a cheap CDROM workshop manual from ebay and use that.
Also while you have the valve covers off it may also be worth replacing the spark plug hole seals in the cover as well.

A lot of the time the 10mm bolts holding down the valve covers are loose esp at the back closest to the firewall, if you can get a 1/4 drive socket with a universal joint you can get down and tighten them. May stop your leak for a while...
