Default High Pitch Squeal HELP..

I recently took my 92 LS400 on a road trip. I drove over a speed bump and my front end of the motor started making a really loud high pitch squeal.
It makes this noise the entire time it is on..I read that I should take the serpentine belt off and start the car quickly to see if the noise was still there. It was still there..uhg what could it be?

HELP!

what could squeal? power steering pump? rack? pulleys? fan clutch? is it a squeal at all or a different type noise? is it all the time /some of the time/ while moving/ while parked/ while turning/ only when you jump on one leg whistling dixie holding an orange?

DON it is a really high pitch whine..kinda like a bird death chirp over and over I am thinking it is the timing belt idler pully 1 or 2 ..like the bearings are gone or something? I took off the serpentine belt so the AC alternator and power steering are out of the running..

I did and I can say it is coming from the fly wheel area..possibly the water pump going bad...or bearings in the timing belt tensioners?

like I said, seek pro help.... your FLYWHEEL is between your engine and transmission..... your water pump is on the front of your engine.

but you are right, it could be any of those things.....

I think hitting the speed bump and then having the noise is just a coincidence. I don't see how they can go together if the noise is in the T-belt/water pump area. Do you have any oil or coolant leaks like from the WP or cam/crank seals? It's possible fluid got on the T-belt and is slipping against the idlers and squealing. Other possibilities; WP pulley bearing, idler pully bearings, (common to lose the grease) tensioner not tight enough and belt is slipping. No matter what, it sounds like you're gonna be doing the T-belt/WP job very soon. If the belt jumps, being a 92, it will just run rough and it wont ruin the engine like on a 95 and up. I would take off the top 2 timing covers and see if there's fluid on the belt and if it's tight. Run the engine, with the covers off, and you might be able to diagnose it further. You'll be able to hear more with covers off. Or bring it to a professional and they will do the same thing. The only difference is they'll charge you a couple hundred bucks. Either way, good luck with what you find.
