1991-1999 possible buy + engine swap
I found a guy that's selling his LS400, it before 2000 i know that, and i was thinking about going VIP style with it if i bought it. Only problem is that it has over 240k miles. So i would buy a new engine. I was thinking about a 2JZ for replacement. Would a 2JZ fit well in this car? Also I would want to replace the transmission, would it be better to buy another OEM one? Or is it possible to get a manual (i prefer) from a different car and obviously have work done to get it to work. If I couldn't get a manual, I'd want to get something a little better than the standard 4 speed. Any ideas on that?? Any help would be great. Getting wheels and bagging isn't too hard, i'm more concerned about the engine and transmission. I'd probably replace the axles and LSD and all that as well. Just so it's cleaner and more reliable. Thanks for any help on the engine specs and transmission ideas!!

Yes, it'll fit, but as the old saying goes, if you have to ask, it probably ain't for you. Just a couple of quick pointers since search has been overlooked.
1) No Lexus V8 came w/ a manual, so you have to buy a R154, W58, or V160/1 and buy the supporting accessories, along w/ and adaptor kit. Not to mention the LS never had a manual so you'll need to cut up the center counsel.
2) Very few Lexus came w/ LSDs, and half that did don't fit the "B" diff housing, for this you need to buy a Supra Auto Twin Turbo diff, which are going for $500 and 1.5 to 2 times that for new stuff.
Do your homework first, good luck with the build.

you say the engine has 240k miles...is there any apparent problems with the engine? these engines last for a life time, engine problems would be the only reason i could see to change it out and do a project like this. 240k miles is only half its life if you take care of that engine.
