Default VSC does what?

Ok on my new (to me) 99, there is an extra control called VSC but I'm not sure what it does over an above traction control, which I understand. Nothing much about the vsc in my user manual, other than 'stability'.

wheel speed sensors and yaw sensors plus control of the throttle and individual wheel brake control to help get the car out of a slide.

read the manual.

The video at the following website is one of funniest demonstrations of VSC I've seen: http://wn.com/Toyota_Traction_Control_Demonstration There are other VSC demo videos on

Similar to what is shown in the video, take your car to a large empty parking lot on a rainy day and drive it in a tight circle until you "lose control" -- except that you probably won't since VSC will "save" you. It's pretty incredible.

You need good tires to get the most out of VSC - especially in winter where it works best with true winter tires (mountain/snowflake symbol on tire sidewalls).
