Default 96 LS400 no start? (no codes, new battery, new starter 1 yr old)

hllo, my car just after thanksgiving, just wont start during the first try, no codes, starter and battery just replaced 1 year ago,
funny thing is if i press lock and unlock 3 times on the remote itll start right away after overnight parking, then it starts right back after i drive for work,
am a little confused but its a hit and miss on the starting, any opinions, maybe my starter is again acting up hopefully not,

wow, that is a new one on me... hope someone smarter than me can help you.. if your key had a "chip" in it, I would think it was faulty, but the 96 is ordinary.
good luck, keep us posted.. if you can..

The same thing happened to mine after rebuilding the starter and a new battery and it was a loose battery terminal,a quick tighten with a 10mm sorted it

Are you getting a single click? Turning over but not firing? Explain further with what happening when trying to start.

hi, yes just a single click, i checked all the obvious and cant come up with an idea i have a tsrm for the 96 LS400, which says that,
ST040–01
STARTING – STARTING SYSTEM
ST–1
1996 LEXUS LS400 (RM439U)
STARTING SYSTEM
ON–VEHICLE INSPECTION
NOTICE:
Before changing the starter, check these items again:
 Connector connection
Accessory installation, e.g.: theft deterrent system

since every time it wont start, ill hook up an OBDII scanner and to see if any codes register, after that itll just fire up
if the above doesnt work ill lock and unlock 3 times using the remote and itll fire right up no problem

So, what happens if you only lock/unlock 2x? 1x? Does it refuse to crank?
If it does not repeatedly give you the same results, then it is just coincidental and your starter solenoid is shot. If it does repeat exactly(3x each time), then it most likely is alarm related.

Try moving the shifter to neutral and see if that works.

Ouch. Glad you got this figured out.
