1993 Ls400 wont start....help im walkin!
Hey folks, I just got back from a 7 day vacation to the Fla beaches Tan and full of cold beer! Problem is my LS decided to lay down while I was gone and wont get back up
It was running perfect when I parked it. But it sat outside in the hot heat and humidity here in the south under full sun for a full week. I think shes mad
Cranked rite up the first day but had a lumpy idle and then when I tried to accelerate it would barely move and was skipping REAL bad...Sounded about like 2 cylinders were firing. No smoke or anythin but a pretty strong smell of fuel. I parked it back and tried again the next day...Same issue..Parked again and tried today...No start at all! Cranks and cranks until I hear the battery getting weak...But no start..
Any ideas on what to start checking first? She has rite around 300k and I know I have not done ANY maintenance other than timing belt 30k ago and oil changes....I also have welded and patched my power steering woes..Check engine light been on for yrs but my mech says its just an o2 sensor dont worry about it...Well guess what Now I am worried...
You guys are the best! Thanks

LMAO!!!!!!! that's messed up!!...but foreal, it shouldn't be anything major...check your air filter, sometimes those get really really dirty, and can have your car run bad.

What is going on here.... seriously this is the second time someone posts about a mechanic not taking the car seriously....... WTF......... an O2 sensor isn't important, so your saying over fuel consumption or running a lean conditon is ok? Dude you a new mechanic... Maybe a Toyota/Lexus independent shop??????

Thanks guys...Yeah Yeah Yeah...I know the lights been on for a yrs maybe 3 at most I have not even fooled with it yet. I had about a halfa tank when i parked it...Im sure its somethin simple. I will do a search for fuel filters and see if I can find that thing...Funny when your down to one car how you can actually negotiate with the wife and make it work! This car WAS a third car for a few yrs when we had the big *** Montero but since I sold it to Nigeria my LS is my main ride now!

well this is almost embarrassing but I have had absolutely no time to fool with my car But I finally got to wrench with my mechanic and the plugs were fouled out...Ohhhh and they were original.. Now this my favorite part of the story...Since I let my car sit for 2 months without disconnecting or trickle charging my battery..My new $140 Interstate battery is toast
But hey I am rollin again..going to get fresh fuel!

well I have spoken to soon..It was short lived. Now its skippin bad again and almost knocking sounding. In less than an hrs time.. This is crazy. This car was running flawless before I parked it for vacation..Surely I did not harm the engine with the check engine light on. Should I change the wires or o2 sensors next? I guess the plugs fouled again.?

check the hood insulation. make sure it isnt getting sucked into the intake over the radiator. another guy just had this bizarre prob. the heat could have baked it loose from the hood finally.
