Default Air shock bench test

Hey guys, my question today concerns my air suspension. I'd like to know if there is a proper way to bench test an air shock. I managed to get a used front shock locally and I'd like to test it before I go through the trouble to install it.

The obvious thing to do is to introduce air into the fitting on the side but I don't know what pressure I should apply and I also have no idea if that sort of test even makes sense seeing as the shock will not be under load. I have searched the forum but wasn't able to find any such topic. Any help is appreciated.

As far as I read totally 26 pages of the service manual for the Gen 2's air suspension part, the only pressure value I can find is this below. It says 932-971kPa. This value is when the relief valve start to work. So we can assume that the line pressure should be less than that. In other words, the compressor produces that much of air pressure as max. Sorry that I don't have the manual for Gen 1 but the value may be similar or close.

I don't have air suspension on my gen 1, but I have these videos bookmarked.

I haven't looked at them for a while, but they usually have diagnostics info in them:

I will see tomorrow if I can look at the manual, if I remember after work

Good morning Yamae thank you for that information which is very useful. About the other part though, did you ever hear of any method I can use to test a shock that is not installed as yet?

Wow those are excellent videos that I have not come across before. Thank you Celsior. I will look through them to see if they have a method to bench test a shock that is not as yet installed in the car. Thanks

Anthony
