SO many good points and ideas here. Makes for a good weekend project to dig into.Thanks for all the help and advice. It's always nice to have ideas to toss around to other people

my feeling is that fuel injection components such as engine coolant temperature sensor, cam/crank sensors, O2 sensors, throttle position sensor, and other critical sensors that your ECU uses data from to make decisions affecting how the car runs should always be the real Toyota (Nippon Denso or Aisin) part - these sensors are just too important to buy aftermarket crap.
