so i replace my ps pump on my 92 LS, turns out the pump i replace it with is bad, so i defect that pump put and get another pump and as im putting it in i break one of the plastic nipples of of the idle control valve. ive done some searching and have come across ppl saying theres a bypass but havent been able to find a description of how its done. also would not having this ICV hooked up prevent me from having power steering at idle. any and all help is appreciated. thanks

What you gotta do is remove the ICV and then plug it with a bolt and washer.

Then you remove the two hoses that are connected to it that go to the intake and throttle body. You then run a hose between the throttle body and intake.

That's that!

And that ICV is only like super assisted power steering. Removing it gives you regular power steering and also makes the car feel tighter and regular. (which is good IMO)

Hello,
After removing the ICV and plugging it with a bolt, can I just plug the two vacuum lines with bolts or do I need to run them together with a plastic inline splice? Also, what size bolt is needed to seal off the valve. Can the valve just be left in place and the lines blocked off? Or will the problem still exist because the ICV will then leak?

The icv will then leak. I believe people here have had success with a 14X1.5mm oil drain plug. You will need a washer too and then monitor it constantly at first to make sure it doesn't leak onto your alternator.

as for the lines going from the valve to the intake, just pull them out and run a line from the throttle body to intake.

my lines are simply capeed off at the tb and intake. in fact, this is the first i've read of connecting them.

I thought the same too, but then I was told that it causes low idle.

I tried both ways and it does seem to idle low when they are just capped off.

yeah, i read that right after i posted. not true on my car but seems to hold true for others so i dunno.

Well I installed the line from the TB to the intake. When I squeeze the line shut, the engine noticeably idles lower.

I'm not sure what all is right or wrong, but my car seems to run a little smoother.
