clunking when braking
I just purchased a 1990 LS400 and it has a clunking just when you hit the brakes, its really loud. it feels as if the drivers side strut and everything is moving backwards. what do you guys think that sounds like? i was thinking strut rod bushing, but i dont know. Does anyone have any suggestions?

As PD suggested, check to make sure all suspension components are tight. Also check the lower ball joints of the car very carefuly. I wold venture to bet that you are in need of new ones. Loose shock/mount would be heard over bumps as well; not just when braking.
