Default front end sounds loose

my car rides smooth most of the time, but sometimes if i hit a quick bump or pothole my front end sounds like somthing is loose and makes a noise. a mechanic told me my shocks were ok. what else could it be? also, should i swap out shocks? thanks.

do a search before PD hammers you on the search function.... "strut rod bushings" ball joints and other suspension components.

Had same problem with my 98ls. Strut rod bushings took care of it.

If your bushing is bad you need to replace the strut too. For the price of a new strut there's no reason not too, bc your already paying the same amout of labor. I'm assuming with your car being a 2000 it's probably got some miles. Mine went out on my 96 with 165K

Take your time on the site to look around...It's covered a lot. Check out lexls.com. I believe there are a lot of tutorials there.

You do not need to replace the strut rods unless they are bent. You just need to change the bushings.

except that the only bushings choice you have on 2nd gen cars is a polyurethane ADUS bushing. if you want OEM nvh and feeling, you need to buy complete strut rods since Lexus doesnt sell just the rubber bushings.

The OEM part numbers for the complete Strut Rods for a 2000 LS400 are:

48670-40011 (LH)
48660-40021 (RH)

You can find them online for roughly $100 each...
