90 ls transmission issues......
Ok here we go. 130,xxx on the odometer considerably low miles. My tranny begins to go haywire. First the reverse light starts to come on during braking every so often, no cel. It feels jerky upon applying the brakes like shifting into a lower gear or overdrive turning off. Then the other day tranny would not shift into higher gears (only stayed in first). I had to drive home doing 30 mph @4,000 rpm, no cel. There is no way of me knowing whats going on. So I replaced the two shift solenoids with ones that I got from a 94 from pick and pull, cleaned the filter, used toyota T-IV tranny fluid. I cleaned the shift solenoids thoroughly with brake cleaner before installation. Reinstalled everything and bam feels brand new. Upon test drive I noticed the reverse light come on again only for a split second and then goes off. I got the battery tested just for good measure. Topped off the tranny fluid and she ran perfectly for almost all of the next day. Then the tranny starts doing the same thing again on and off. So now i am going to drop the tranny pan and do the same thing again but this time replace the other two solenoids. So my question is this has anyone ever had this problem before? Where can I find the FSM for my car? What are the other two solenoids on the transmission for? Could this possibly be an electrical issue. Help!
