Options for a '90 LS400 with shot air suspension?
I just picked up a 1990 LS400 at police auction. The car is in pretty great shape, (picture here: http://www.fopedush.com/upload/fopedush/lex1.jpg ) with one exception: the suspension. This model originally had air suspension, but the previous owner seems to have removed it and installed conventional shocks, which also happen to be completely shot. The air lines that are supposed to run to the shocks have been cut and taped off, and one of the ride height sensors on the rear wheels seems to be disconnected. I called up the local lexus dealership expecting to find insane prices, and I did. New air shocks are $1260 each for the fronts, and $750 each for the rears, not to mention I don't even know if the compressor/relays/sensors/etc work. This car is not worth that much money, but nevertheless I would still love to get working air shocks somehow. If its completely impossible for a reasonable price, I could settle for a good set of conventional shocks, but I don't know if the usual array of aftermarket shocks will fit a vehicle originally eqipped with air shocks.
What should I do? Any suggestions/ideas/questions/flames are welcome.
