I replaced mine recently on my 97. when I did, my transmission started working better too. Doesn't down shift as often, and going up some hills on the way home with the CC on it doesn't shift at all. I wouldn't say there was a significant improvement in MPGs but there was an improvement. Also now the tranny is shifting much much smoother.
PITA though. My mech removed the passenger cat, then removed the tranny cross member to angle it down a little bit... Oh yeah.. that reminds me... replace the tranny mount while you're down there. :P
wait do u need the EGR VALVE or PIPE? the valve itself is easy to replace as its right on top of the motor. the pipe on the other hand is behind the engine, cramped between the firewall.
can someone also fill me in on how the EGR will help the tranny shift?

The pipe usually busts or cracks in between the valve and the exhaust pipe. The valve needs a good cleaning, but could be replaced if you really need it to.
I did notice that when the EGR valve is plugged in, the car doesn't have the hesitation between 44-45 mph. I'm thinking of leaving the valve on there, but using the delete kit to block the actual hole so I'll pass a visual inspection.
How much does the pipe cost?? would I have to make a delete kit, or does someone sell them?? what would I gain/lose from a block off??? thanks in advance!!
