Default Slow to shift when cold

Great Forum - First Post - 97 LS-400 - 135,000 miles - For the past few weeks, first drive for the day the trans is really slow to up-shift. (Not in power mode.) Florida so not really cold, maybe 40's. No slipping, just over revs. When I try it, I let off the gas some and it will shift.

After it warms up a little - 4-5 miles - all is OK.

I'm thinking maybe dirty screen? Trans fluid (probably not T-IV, last owner changed fluid at a quick change place.) looks good - pink, no smell.

Any ideas?

I would change the fluid and the screen, and see what happens.

All it needs is some more fluid.

So I changed the screen and replaced the oil - dumped what was in the pan and pumped 8-9 quarts from the hose going to the radiator - with Toyota T-IV. Still shifting late.

Any other ideas about what might be wrong?

Sounds stupid but change your coolant temp sensor.
