Default 20's, do they have to be specifically designed for the LS?

Haven't seen this question anywhere on the board, but if I want to get 20's on my ls, are there specific wheels ONLY for the ls? Or can I go with Asanti's or Aicona's?
And on a side note, how much will I be able to lower my car if I do get 20's?

My bad about not saying this earleir but I'm talking about a 1990 LS.

There is a 45 offset from factory.

Not sure if there are wheels other than OEM that are designed SPECIFICALLY for the Lexus. Most people don't buy 'Lexus LS 400' wheels if you know what I mean. With fender rolling, and spacers there is generally no problem on fitting them. So I would shop for what you like not trying to find factory replacements.. Isn't going to happen.

Unless, you go with a larger OEM wheel -- which doesn't reach 20.

There are many people who have wheels and lowered their vehicles, you'll get alot of answers about how far you can go, and the best steps.

I would guess you can lower at least 1.5-2.5inches. But someone will chime in with the exactness of a First Generation LS 400 with 20" Rims.

you can go for any wheel brand. you just got to make sure they have a 5/114 bolt pattern thats all. offset and everything its to your discretion. i have 20z on my 95LS400

Could you go a little more in depth about what you mean with "5/114 bolt pattern"?

If you put 20" wheels on a 1st generation LS400 it will look stupid as hell.

lol sony..

I don't like the huge rims on any car - but I've seen them at 20 done very well,..

I prefer maximum 18" or so. That still falls into the realm of 'OEM' but on the edge of what a factory offering could be.

That still fits the car, and doesn't seem outrageous.

But with rim size I am considered conservative compared to most.

19" is the largest anyone should put on a 1st generation LS, and 20" is the largest on a 2nd gen. With that said, I wouldn't go larger than 18" on a 1st gen or 19" on a 2nd gen. Either way, you're paying a ton for tires.

Sure a lot of people here won't like 20"'s on 1Gen LSs. Understandable though... we have a wide range of ages and tastes on the board... I like them though. If you like 20's, throw 'em on there. Mine are +35 all around

20's are fine for the size of the car. These cars have a big enough body and wheel wells to accomodate. Here's a pic of my old car with 2" drop.

with a 90, you'll be able to fit just about anything you want. the bolt pattern is a very commone one, almost every wheel is made with the 5x114.3 bp.
imo, 20's are too big. even if you lower the car, it's still too high. 18's or 19's look great on the early cars, look at some pics around here...
