'90 LS400 subwoofer removal
I read somewhere on here that you remove the cover over the subwoofer by just prying all the way around it with a flat object or your fingers. There is no way that I can get that thing off without breaking something, and I don't know how anyone could ever get it off with just their fingers. Was that info wrong, or do I just need to grit my teeth, hope I don't bust something, and pry away? I would prefer to keep the trim looking as good as possible.

Hmmm... I was able to get mine off easily by hand, it's just held on by a few clips.
Just be careful not to crack the plastic, as it's old and probably a bit more brittle from being exposed to the texas sun.

OK, I'll just be very careful with it. I may just wait and get an aftermarket sub put in by my stereo installer along with an amp. They will replace anything that gets messed up in the process too, so I'll be covered either way!

Just pry off. There are 2 clips, one on each corner. You need to push in a screwdriver covered with a piece of paper. I used a coin where it was touching the plastic. It will pop off no problem...

I just went to Performance Audio here in Tyler and had them remove the stock blown sub and install a JL 8W7 in a ported box with a JL 250 mono amp. I'm much happier with that decision, it sounds great now. Thanks for all the tips on how to get it out guys, I tried again, but I was just too scared that I was going to scratch/break something. That thing was really on there good! I guess that it was kind of a blessing in disguise since it pushed me over the edge to do something better in the end.
